Black Bumper Plates (Olympic)

While pricing is a big consideration for buying weights as every single dollar saved can be put towards other equipment, you should stronger consider investing in a good set of bumper plates.

What is harder to see in the price is the technical aspects of making the bumper plates which include workmanship as well as the rubber raw material. The rubber we use for our plates are considered medium to high quality grade, and we do not use recycled rubber. There is no unpleasant smell and hence even at this price, sales have been strong with no negative complaints when used correctly. 

These plates are meant to be used with other bumper plates (e.g. our coloured bumper plates here or our hi-temp bumper plates here). It is not advised to put a set of 5kg bumper plates and load heavier cast iron plates next to it, as it will cause the plates to break. Similarly, dropping the bar from an overhead position with only 5kg plates used will also cause the plates to spoil quickly. The main load bearing plates should be 20kg, with additional plates added after that.

Please note that plates will be coated with a thin protective layer of oil. The oil can be easily removed by cleaning the item with a mild soapy solution.
